Weizhen Tang Challenges Unjust OSC Allegations: “The Truth Will Prevail”
Toronto, October 31, 2025
Veteran investor and entrepreneur Weizhen Tang, often known as the “Chinese Warren Buffett,” has vowed to fight back against what he calls unjust and politically motivated actions by the Ontario Securities Commission (OSC). Tang revealed that the OSC did not directly file a case against him but used an investor as a proxy, alleging that he violated an existing OSC order.
After two years of legal proceedings, the case went to trial last week in Toronto, lasting a full week. “It was intense,” Tang said, “but what seemed like a bad situation has turned into an opportunity to reveal the truth.”
During the hearing, Tang testified in detail about what he describes as years of targeted discrimination and misuse of authority by the OSC against him and other Chinese investors. He presented substantial evidence to support his claims, arguing that the Commission’s actions had caused “severe personal and financial harm” to him, his family, and his investors.
According to Tang, the presiding judge listened attentively and acknowledged that his arguments were “reasonable and substantive.” The judge further advised him to formally seek protection under the Canadian Charter of Rights and Freedoms—a step Tang says he intends to pursue immediately.
“This case is not just about me,” Tang stated.
“It’s about justice, fairness, and the rights of all investors—especially those who have been unfairly targeted or silenced.”
A journalist and former lawyer who attended the hearing called Tang’s testimony “fearless and compelling” and later conducted an interview with him. The journalist is reportedly working on a book project documenting Tang’s legal struggle and investment philosophy.
Tang also used the courtroom setting to highlight his investment record and financial acumen. At the onset of the pandemic, one of his accounts grew from $20,000 to $80,000 in just three months, demonstrating what he describes as “the power of disciplined, insight-driven investing.” Despite these achievements, Tang claims the OSC distorted and misrepresented his success as part of their campaign to discredit him.
Now, Tang is taking his fight to the next stage. He is preparing a formal motion to the court to revoke the OSC’s personal trading ban against him, calling it “unjustified and unconstitutional.”
“I believe in Canada’s rule of law,” Tang said.
“The truth will ultimately prevail—and this case will stand as an important signal for all Chinese Canadians who seek fairness, justice, and freedom.”
